About the library

Is the Cobia tackle library free to browse?

These 25 lure type pages are, completely, with no account and no app install. Be clear about what is not here though. There is no page per lure on this site and no search across the 47,628 individual variants. That view exists in the app, where it is also free, because a list of forty seven thousand lures is only useful once it can show you which ones you already own.

Where does the catalog come from?

It is the same catalog the app uses, 5,529 lure families and 47,628 individual color and size variants across 439 brands. These pages cover the 4,817 families that carry a real description, a product image and at least one cataloged variant.

Does Cobia sell tackle?

No. There is no shop, no affiliate checkout and no sponsored placement in the picks. The app has no reason to tell you to buy something, which is the entire point of it telling you what you already own is the right choice.

How does the app know what is in my box?

You scan a receipt or a UPC barcode and it matches against this catalog. A photo of a receipt from a tackle shop turns into individual lures with brands, colors and sizes attached. After that the app ranks against your box rather than against a shop shelf.

What does Cobia mean by a family and a variant?

A family is a product line, for example a single crankbait model. A variant is one specific color and size of it. Anglers talk in families and buy in variants, and color and size are usually what decides whether a fish eats, so the app reasons at the variant level.
