Nobody sees the fish until you land it
The species and weight stay behind a mystery card while the fight plays. When the fish comes over the rail, the card opens. The reveal is a native overlay timed to the landing, so it is never burned into the file and you can move exactly where it fires before you post.

A fun fishing clip with no species attached. The run out at sunrise, the bait shop, the buddy who fell in. It lives in the feed and it does not touch your standings, which is exactly the point.
Imported video
Allowed from day one and clearly labeled Imported. It can still carry a reveal. What you give up is the automatic landing detection, so you drag the marker to the right frame yourself.

The reveal will not fire on a species Cobia is not confident about. A wrong reveal is worse than no reveal, so it waits rather than guessing.
A reason to open the app on a day you are not fishing
A fishing app is usually dead between trips. You check the tide on Friday, you fish on Saturday, and you do not open it again until the next Friday. Bites is the answer to that, and it is the one feature that works entirely on land.

Yes. A Bite is a catch that happens to be video. It fills your Fishdex™, progresses Slams, counts toward crowns, and earns Strike Points exactly like a photo catch.
Yes. Drag the marker to the frame where the fish comes over the rail and the card opens there. Shooting in the Cobia Camera finds that moment for you and earns the Authentic label, but an imported clip is not shut out of the reveal.
No, and this was a deliberate design decision. The reveal is a native overlay synced to a stored timestamp, so your original video stays clean. You can adjust exactly when it fires with a scrubber before you post.
Up to three minutes. A countdown appears in the final ten seconds of recording so you are not surprised by the cutoff mid fight.
Only as much as you choose. Bites follow the same per catch privacy control as every other catch, so you can post the fight without publishing the pin.
