The read is already waiting
You do not open Cobia and ask it to think. It ran overnight. Tide predictions from your named NOAA station, solunar transit math, the barometric trend, the water temperature at your gauge, and what has actually been caught nearby this week, all scored into one number with the reasoning printed underneath it.
A score is a stack of real inputs. This one is a major window from 6:07 to 8:07, an outgoing tide moving water, a moderate thirteen mile an hour wind and half cloud cover, weighted together.
One line tells you when to set the alarm
Solunar majors and minors laid over the real tide curve, with sunrise and sunset marked and a live now line. Then the app names the single best window in plain text so you are not interpreting a chart at five in the morning.
Best 7:57 to 8:57p, minor plus last light. That is the whole point of the card.
See what is under you before you launch
Most fishing maps stop at the shoreline. Turn on depth contours and the bottom appears in six bands with contour lines from federal survey data. Turn on habitat and the seagrass beds and oyster bars show up where the survey put them. Stack the catch heatmap on top and the pattern is obvious.
A grass edge sitting on a depth change at the mouth of a creek on a falling tide. That is the kind of spot people keep to themselves.
Ranked from the box you actually own
Cobia knows what is in your tackle box because you scanned a receipt and it read the line items. So the recommendation is never an advert. It ranks your own lures against the species, the season, the tide stage, and today wind, then names a top pick.

Point, shoot, and the record writes itself
Shoot the fish through the Cobia Camera and the photo, the GPS, the UTC timestamp, and the live conditions are bound together at the moment of capture. The species is identified from the photo and you confirm it. That is what earns the Authentic badge.
Import from your camera roll instead and the catch is still yours, still in your Fishdex™, and honestly labeled Imported. It just does not rank.
Nobody sees the fish until you land it
Shoot the fight instead and you get a Bite. The species and weight stay behind a mystery card until the moment the fish comes over the rail, then the card opens. The reveal is a native overlay timed to the landing, never burned into the file, and you set the exact frame with a scrubber before you post.
A Bite counts toward species and standings exactly like a photo catch does.
The slot limit arrives with the fish
Regulations resolve against where you are actually standing, so crossing a county or state line changes what you see. Slot and bag limits, season dates, and permit requirements sit next to the species rather than in a booklet in the truck.

The Fishdex™ fills in
Confirm the species and the entry fills with your photo, the date, the water, and the conditions at that moment. 599 species, and the ones you have not caught are the reason you go again on a day you were not going to.
Rarity runs from common through uncommon, rare, and legendary to mythic. Some of them you will chase for years.
Every pier becomes a scoreboard
The catch moves your Slam progress if you were inside the geo fence. It moves the crown at that spot if you have more verified catches there than anyone else. It moves your weekly Strike Points and your league standing. None of it counts unless the catch was Authentic, which is the entire reason verification exists.

A feed from water you actually fish
The feed is people fishing the water you fish, with the species, the place, and the conditions attached. Direct messages are gated on who actually follows you. Slam invites turn a solo grind into a group thing. This is where a family ends up competing against each other at dinner.
No ads in the feed. Brands post like any other account, and tackle shops sit on the map.
Ten angler titles, and the crown carries yours
Hold the most verified catches at a spot and you hold the title there. The one you pick follows you everywhere you rank.
About the loop
Opening the briefing and reading the window takes under a minute, because the work already happened overnight. Logging a catch is one tap on the shutter plus confirming the species. Everything else, the Fishdex™ entry, the Slam progress, the crown, the Strike Points, happens on its own.
No. Plenty of people use Cobia purely as a briefing and a catch log and never look at a leaderboard. The competitive layer is there when you want it and it does not get in the way when you do not.
The data foundation is national, so tides, weather, water temperature, regulations, and the species catalog work anywhere those sources reach. The parts that get sharper with local catch history, like the heatmap and spot ranking, improve as anglers log catches on that water.
