A catch in Cobia carries the species, the water, the time and the conditions it was taken in. So a photo in the feed is not just a photo. You can see that it came off an incoming tide at first light in seventy two degree water, three miles from where you were standing.

A catch on video where the species stays hidden behind a mystery card until the fish is landed. The three seconds before you see what is on the line is the best part of fishing, and a thumbnail normally gives it away. Bites do not. They count toward your Fishdex and your ranking.
A Reel
Any fishing clip with no species attached. The run out of the inlet, the bird show, the thing your buddy did to the cast net. For when the story is the point rather than the fish. It does not rank, and it is not supposed to.
The water itself is the meeting place

Every named water has its own page with the catches taken there, who holds the crown, and what has been coming out lately. Look up a lake before you drive to it and see what it actually produced this month.
599 species pages
Each one carries the catches logged for that fish and the ten anglers who have landed the most of them. If you want to know who the snook people are, that is where they are.
Identity that is earned
Your angler title and the crowns you hold ride next to your name everywhere you appear. Local Legend on a profile means a hundred catches on one water, not a purchase.
Messages, invites, and being left alone
The social layer is deliberately small. There is no algorithm deciding what you should feel, no follower count to farm, and no way for a stranger to land in your inbox.

Only if you let them. Every catch carries its own privacy setting, and the protective option is the default. You can post a fish from a spot you will never name and the app respects that.
Only people you have let in. The gate checks who follows you rather than who you follow, which is the direction that actually protects an inbox.
Brands can have profiles and post like any other account, and local tackle shops sit on the map. The feed is not an advertising surface and lure recommendations are not for sale.
