Strike Zones

This is the one thing in Cobia we might charge for one day. It is free right now, so here is exactly what it does and what it does not, and you can tell us whether it would ever be worth paying for.

What it is

Confidence bands painted across the water

Strike Zones runs the conditions, the bathymetry, the habitat, and the catch history through a scoring model and shades the water in four tiers so you can see where the model thinks the odds are best right now.

  • Four tiers from hot through great and good to fair, each with its own shade and outline
  • Built on the free layers, meaning depth, habitat, conditions, and real catch history
  • Optional, switched on in the layer sheet like any other layer
  • Free today, and the rest of the app stays free whatever we decide about this one

Being straight with you

What we will and will not claim

It is a model

Strike Zones is an algorithmic confidence estimate. It is not a fish finder and it does not see fish. A hot band means the conditions and history favor that water, nothing more.

It is genuinely optional

Skip it and you still get the briefing, the guide, depth, habitat, weather, tides, the camera, Slams, crowns, the Fishdex™, the tackle box, and everything else. Nothing degrades.

It gets better with data

The model weights real logged catches, so its accuracy on a given water tracks how much verified history exists there. Thin water gives you a thin read and the app does not pretend otherwise.

Questions

About strike zones

Nothing right now. It is switched on for everyone. It is the most expensive layer we run, so it is the one feature we may charge for later. That is a maybe rather than a plan, and we would rather you use it now and tell us whether it is worth paying for.

We genuinely have not decided. It might stay free. If we do price it we will say so on the pricing page before anything changes, and the rest of the app will stay free either way.

No. Cobia is not a trial. Nothing counts down, nothing expires, and there is no nag screen anywhere in the app. Strike Zones is not on a timer either; it is simply on.
